Our Farm Board
Andrew Cagle: Farm Director
The dream of farming on some scale came to Andrew after reading Wendell Berry’s “The Unsettling of America” while living in Brooklyn. It was in that moment that he began to see connection to the land as the foundation of healthy individuals and communities. Andrew handles the systems design and crop management for the farm. He also makes his bones as a filmmaker.
Matt Glenn: Chicken Officer
Matt is a local attorney in Oak Cliff who would prefer to fly under the radar but for his dream to have a global egg guild comprised from many (many) backyard coops. He takes his coop design about as serious as he takes lawyering, and believes backyard gardening is going to save the world and it all starts with the chicken, or the egg. If he’s not lawyering under the radar, he’s tending to his own flock and yard with his beautiful wife and goat momma, Jacy Radar.
Eric Nyström: Culinary Director
Eric has a passion for soil health, regenerative agriculture, and environmental justice, and given the opportunity will talk your ear off about it. Eric earned a Masters Degree in Soil Science at Texas A&M University and has started culinary school at El Centro College. Eric says there’s a profound wonder and satisfaction that comes from growing and eating your own food, and it’s worth all the time and effort we can muster to share that with our neighbors. Eric lives with his wife Sarah and dog Pancake on the North side of Elmwood creek.
Collin Martin: Community Engagement
Collin daylights as a government employee, but as a self-diagnosed full-time dreamer, he’s always cooking up something on the side. So, when the opportunity arose to help transform an empty lot into a neighborhood farm, he dove in head-first. Collin’s heart beats for unity among people and faithful stewardship of the earth. If the farm can help bring just a taste of those to the heart of Elmwood, he’ll be delighted to no end. Just like the farm, Collin resides on Ferndale Ave. Unlike the farm, he lives there with his lovely wife, Emma, and loyal pup, Woody.
Doug Klembara: Farm Developer
Doug has a passion for Oak Cliff, Texas. Doug has been a part of developing Monte Anderson’s ‘Tyler Station’, founding a natural light studio as well as developing a coworking space with his brother called Wax Space. Doug is supremely inspired by Urban Planner, Theaster Gates, in Chicago with his vision of small neighborhood driven development. He sees Elmwood Farm as a centerpoint for the community, a place to learn and connect.
