Volunteer at The Farm

Season: Fall 2024

Elmwood Farm is run by volunteers and is truly a community project. We invite everyone to take ownership and be involved with the caretaking of the land.

What should you expect as a volunteer? Everyone does some of everything. Work can be done individually or with others at set gathering times. If you enjoy gardening, hospitality, ecology, teaching children, or good-honest-physical work, the farm is your place to put these activities into practice. An example of weekly chores are weeding in the vineyard, rotating pigs on pasture, gathering eggs, or seasonal-based gardening. Come out and work but also set aside time to relax with family and friends!

What are we looking for? Ideally, we want a group of volunteers that can share enough of the weekly tasks to make things light and fun. No experience is required. Just enthusiasm. There’s plenty of room to bring your ideas to the table. We are a community-run space, so our expectation is for volunteers to be self-motivated once trained and take partial ownership for the farm along with everyone else.

When do we work? Each second Saturday of the month is a community work day where we try to tackle large projects, together. Each season, we find a couple of weekday mornings or evenings that can be common times to do chores so that you can expect a helping hand when you show up to the farm.
